Do you have a Twitter account? I do. I love it. I'll go as far to say that Twitter has surpassed Facebook. Since the first tweet on March 21, 2006, Twitter has exploded into a social media phenomenon. The numbers don't lie. 3 years, 2 months and 1 day: the time it took from the first tweet to the billionth tweet. 140 million. The number of tweets sent in one day. The numbers are impressive and continue to grow. The second link I attached at the bottoms shows some staggering statistics. I encourage you to check them out. Twitter has also identified a 182% increase in the number of cell phone users. Tweetsters, as I like to call them, have the ability to tweet about anything, anywhere, anytime. I tweet around 2-3 times a day, sometimes less depending on my mood. With the majority of tweets being pointless babble, I try not to fall under that category. I consider Twitter to be an outlet for comedy, with the majority of my tweets reflecting that opinion. But Twitter can also be informative, which is why I think companies who capitalize on Twitter's growing popularity will reap the benefits.

I completely agree. I for one favor Twitter over Facebook as well. With all the garbage that goes on over facebook it is so much easier to get useful and/or interesting information over Twitter not to mention it's more entertaining. I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook will be #2 in the near future.
ReplyDeleteIt has been really interesting to see the growth of Twitter over the years, especially from a Marketing perspective. I hardly use my Facebook mobile app but check my Twitter obsessively. I think the possibilities are endless as far as Twitter Marketing goes, and I really think it is effective from a branding perspective.
